Alive and Kicking… And that’s something.

Life hit me like a freighter loaded with napalm and rocket fuel a few months back.  One day, I was employed and secure, and the next day… I was not. Company employing me? Let us all go with an email and a thanks for the “freelance” work. Moral of the story? Read employment contracts before signing. Don’t let clauses compromise your stability and security. My last few weeks of work? Unpaid. Rent and bills? Well, they had to be, so my computers and equipment were the first to go while I waited for unemployment to kick in. The resulting panic and struggle to find another job left me quite nearly homeless, and more often than not, totally hopeless.

Thankfully, my family and I pulled through, I’m working again, and slowly rebuilding. I’m a single mom and I can’t begin to communicate how scary being jobless is when you’re the only parent supporting your kids. I never want to repeat this experience. Ever.

I still don’t have a computer, I’m posting from my lovely phone, but I have all my work saved on an external drive for when I can purchase another and resume writing once again.

I miss it terribly. I’ve been without much of a creative outlet for too long, though, when you’re struggling, thankfully, it isn’t the worst of tragedies. However, it will feel like taking a breath of sweet air after staying under water too long once I can put all this behind me and pick up where I left off.

The future will remain bright. A small spell of darkness makes the world even more radiant when one emerges, and I cannot but be grateful for what I have every single day.
Anyway, thank you for the comments and support for my stories in my absence. It was and still is such a light and joy for me when I could check in, and I hope to resume posting soon!

Because I can’t resist… The Wolves will return…

I’m aware of how lame that was. I did it anyway.

  1. I’m glad you did, it made me grin. 😀 I’m sorry things have been so tough for you. I’m really glad they are getting better. I hope you can get another computer soon. I was raised by a single mom and sometimes things were really tough but I know she did the best she could and now I appreciate everything because I did not always have it. I’m hoping things continue to improve for you. *hugs*

  3. Hope RL is treating you better!

Eric sent me to tell you that he loves your brain. And not in a yucky Hannibal Kind of way😉

Even if you never write another word, what you have already written is blood. I mean gold! Maybe I should stop listening to Eric rant 😋

You do this for free and deserve an Eric leer. You are brilliant!
